THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION
Hi, I'm Bryan Duncan, host of Road To Redemption, and I'm a believer in Recovery, Reconciliation and Restoration. The Road To Redemption is a collection of shows of music and commentary designed to encourage those of us in recovery to keep the issues in front of us even as we go about our daily routines. The Road To redemption shows are written in subgroups of eight shows each based on different topics and areas of recovery. I’m inviting you to join me on The Road to Redemption.......
ROAD TO REDEMPTION SUBTITLES
THE EIGHT PRINCIPLES OF RECOVERY: Shows 1 - 8 are based on the eight principles of recovery (adapted from the 12 Steps). I decided to put music with my own personal notes because it helped me with my own recovery. It forces me to least think in a RIGHT direction. My primary focus after 16 years of working on my own recovery, is simply to encourage the pursuit of overall redemption.

POTHOLES ON THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION: this series is simply the short list of my own most common annoyances in the recovery process. I compare them to potholes on the road but they are big enough to throw you out of "alignment" with recovery for more than a little while. All have been a deterrent to my own sanity more than a few times.

THE SERENITY PRAYER: the first four lines of this prayer can be found on most recovery coins but when I first saw a copy of the entire prayer I was amazed… Reciting this prayer on a daily basis (sometimes hourly) led me to my first 90 days of clean living.. and I still find it to be the best template for getting through my life one day at a time " God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, Enjoying one moment at a time, Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace, Taking, as Jesus did, This sinful world as it is, Not as I would have it, Trusting that You will make all things right, If I surrender to Your will, So that I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen."

SURVIVING CHRISTMAS: my goal in this Road To Redemption program was to do one year of weekly shows to encourage myself and others to stay at the real work of recovering… there are about three weeks around the Christmas holidays which have in the past been unbearable at times for me. And so in working step 12 of my own program I sought to offer to others the encouragement I needed for myself at Christmas… (I plan to have at least one more Christmas show eventually)
Show #25: My Kind of Christmas
Show #26: Avoiding the Blues at Christmas
GUARDRAILS ON THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION: In keeping with the imagery of life "on the road" I added this series. A guardrail is what keeps you on the road when you're out of control. The following "contributions" have kept me coming back to recovery when I’ve wanted desperately to quit.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF HAPPINESS: there was a three year break in the recording of shows as I went through a divorce. After much effort in recovery I realized that recovery never stops. I took some time to look at where I was even with all the improvements in my life.. I still face loss and deal with potential regret. With new insights I began again with step 12 as a way to give to others what I am seeking for myself. I believe that happiness does not revolve around itself… it is a by product of some basic personal responsibilities. I noted that "Reasonable Happiness" was seldom defined beyond those two words in the serenity prayer… and I just wanted to know more…the next eight shows were taken from a list I read in a book by Elizabeth Brown called "Living successfully with Screwed Up People". I offer these shows even is I continue to learn for myself how to maintain my own attitude through daily conflicts.
