Keb Mo / God Tryin To Get Your Attention

Hi there it's Bryan Duncan again, you know There's knowledge and then there's wisdom... But they don't come in the same box... This week I'm askin God for the wisdom to know the difference..it's the third line in the serenity prayer...lets finish listenin to keb Mo... And God trying To get Your Attention..

(2;13) Your listenin to the Road To Redemption...(oh yea) Got wisdom? well that starts with hearing...

That's God tryin to get your attention...keb Mo Singin... Wow that's just too cool best part's right at the end... That¹s usually where wisdom comes in too... Talkin about the wisdom to know the difference between what I can change and what I cannot...but then wisdom comes in different forms... (start intro) You've got your worldly wisdom... And your conventional wisdom.. And then there's Godly wisdom...it leads to great things in life... As we seek wisdom we will find the things we desire" Proverbs chapter 3 says..

Satellite Soul/ Poor Reflection

That¹s Satellite Soul... Poor reflection....I find poor reflection leads to bad decisions...Thats why I put my faith in a higher power...cause he doesn't act on a reflection he produces the original image!

Amy Grant/ don't know why

Amy Grant... I don't know why...you hear her sing... "there's a wealth of information but not so many answers" and there is the difference between Knowledge and wisdom... Wisdom is knowing how to use the information I've been given...

But even from the beginning of time back in the days of Adam and Eve, when there was only one rule to follow... Well, the human race couldn't seem to find the wisdom to know what was not an option...

Bryan Duncan/ Everything in The Garden

I can see why wisdom tends to come after a few mistakes...that's the only way I've ever gotten wisdom...forget the rules... What happens when I do this?...Oh... I see... and now I have some wisdom by experience... I could have believed the words of wiser counsel early on and saved myself some pain and agony... But that would take wisdom on my part too... The wisdom to know who to trust...

Right now we're gonna look at the wisdom to recognize ...life out of step...

I'm not sure but I think acting on impulse would be the opposite of using wisdom... One of my defects of character is a knee jerk reaction to whatever is happening to me at the time. I turn to my own unmanageable dependencies at the slightest painful circumstance...it's habit forming...and it starts with the impulse...

Wisdom on the other hand takes discipline... It's not acting on the impulse. But I'm in a hurry to fix stuff...I'm Not gonna wait for the truth or spend time gathering the proper facts about reality...I hate to read the instructions... They're so boring..and it's always printed so tiny you can hardly read it...like the words printed on those prescription bottles that I can't pronounce how am I supposed to know what's in this stuff...

Worst case, acting on impulse is like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane without checking the parachute to see if it's folded properly...or at least knowing and trusting the inspector. But hey whats the fun in that? I might be branded as a "conservative" or laughed off as "anal retentive". So I'll just be "reckless" and "impulsive"... Sounds more adventurous and it looks really cool on t.v.... But T.V. Is for entertaining people mostly... Cause they don't have to live with the consequences. And they get to laugh at the mishaps. People who lack wisdom are entertaining for a while too but in real life it gets pretty sad. Real pain is poorly portrayed even by the best of actors. Who rely heavily on impulse come to think of it...

I've never been able to feel the concept on t.v. Of "regret" based on decisions made out of a lack of wisdom. The stories are completed and I can see the results... But regret of my choices without wisdom is painful long after the rest of you have cut to a commercial.

Over sting intro (double the intro) Dear God, you are my only hope... To attain wisdom. I can find information and gain knowledge on my own... But you alone provide Godly wisdom to apply knowledge and avoid my impulse to turn to quick fixes...in my fools wisdom I have made my life unmanageable. Alone, I can't tell what it is that I can and cannot change... Give me wisdom to know the difference the courage to change what I can and the serenity to accept what I cannot. In Christ's name I pray amen

Sting/ If I Ever Lose My Faith In You

if I ever lose my faith in you/ that's Sting...expressing disillusion with Science and progress and religeon, and people on t.v., his own sense of direction, a lost world, and the politicians in it... Hey There's wisdom in this tune... Depending on where your final faith is...

Intro Heavenly light: Here's one of my songs about my own lack of wisdom as I tried valiantly to fix the world and the people in it...left me with more anger than courage.. And serenity?...what's that?

Bryan Duncan/ Heavenly Light

You're listening to Radio Rehab with Bryan Duncan and that's me finding a little heavenly light...we've been talkin about another line in the Serenity Prayer this week...I Found the prayer helpful in the 12 steps of recovery. The 12 steps of recovery in case you didn't know are biblical principals......acknowledging my weakness and God's power...... committing to his higher power....... making amends for the wrongs I've done to others...... offering forgiveness to those who have hurt me..... living one day at a time....... improving my contact with God and seeking his wisdom...... giving back to others because of the miracles in my own life.......it's real wisdom to live by...let God be God and you be you... With his help...don't give up when you're tired... Call a friend... I'm a friend on line too at bryanduncan.com let me hear from you...

Well we've got a little extra time this week (start intro) cause I didn't talk as much... There's Probably some real wisdom there!...I'm gonna leave you with Aaron Neville...thanks for listening to the Road To Redemption... Keep coming back

Aaron Neville/ I saw the light

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change The courage to change the things I can And the wisdom to know the difference.... This has been the Road To Redemption on your transformation station...
